Job Summary
We are seeking an
experienced and proactive Import Manager to oversee
end-to-end import operations, international logistics, and customs compliance.
The ideal candidate should possess
strong knowledge of import regulations, Incoterms, documentation, and ERP systems,
along with the ability to
lead teams, optimize logistics costs, and ensure timely shipment execution.
Key Responsibilities
1. Import Operations Management
- Oversee end-to-end import operations from order placement to final delivery
- Ensure compliance with import regulations, customs laws, and company policies
- Interpret and apply Incoterms (FOB, CIF, CFR, EXW, etc.) to optimize cost and risk
- Manage international payment terms including LC, TT, DP, and DA
2. Documentation & Compliance
- Supervise preparation and verification of Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading (BL), and Certificate of Origin
- Ensure all import documentation complies with legal and regulatory requirements
- Coordinate with customs brokers and authorities for smooth customs clearance
3. Shipment & Logistics Coordination
- Plan and monitor shipment schedules to ensure timely delivery
- Manage relationships with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and courier companies
- Track shipments and resolve delays or disruptions proactively
- Optimize freight costs and logistics efficiency
4. Team Leadership & Coordination
- Lead, mentor, and guide the import operations team
- Assign responsibilities and monitor team performance
- Coordinate with procurement, finance, and warehouse teams for seamless operations
5. System & Record Management
- Ensure accurate maintenance of import records and documentation
- Oversee ERP system updates and reporting
- Prepare MIS reports on shipment status, costs, and performance metrics
6. Problem Resolution & Risk Management
- Handle documentation discrepancies and shipment-related issues
- Manage claims for damaged or short shipments
- Identify operational risks and implement corrective and preventive actions

- Timely execution of import shipments
- 100% documentation accuracy and compliance
- Customs clearance completed within expected timelines
- Optimized freight and logistics costs
- Accurate ERP updates and MIS reporting
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Strong knowledge of import procedures, customs regulations, and international trade
- In-depth understanding of Incoterms and international payment methods (LC, TT, DP, DA)
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities
- Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Experience: 5–10 years in import/export operations, including 2–3 years in a managerial role
